The Run Down

Throughout the website you should be able to find most answers to any questions you may have but if you find yourself needing any clarification or have any additional questions that were unanswered on here please do not hesitate to reach out. Here you will find a run down of our process of buying a puppy from North River Siberians. I do my best to make sure all information and upcoming litters are up to date.

Each time a litter is planned our #1 goal is improving the quality of our Siberians and to preserve the standard. By doing this we research pedigrees, study each dam and sires health, structure, temperament and work/train ability and put purpose and thought into each considerable pairing to ensure their compliments to one another will help reach that goal. First pick is always reserved for our next show/performance prospect.

If you are ready to add a new puppy to your family your first step will be to fill out the puppy application completely and send it to me promptly (there is a separate section you can go to to download the application and look over the contract). The puppy application will give me a general idea of what you're looking for in a puppy and what the environment will be for the puppy. From there we will have a conversation if anything needs clarified. Once I have reviewed and approved your application I will place your name and number on the waitlist.

I do my best to keep everyone on the waitlist informed of any updates there may be but typically I don't reach out until the bitch is in season and successful mating is about to take place. This is to ensure you are still interested in a puppy. If you are not your name is removed from the list and the next person is moved up. Once there is a successful mating I will reach out to you, let you know and give you a date that I will be taking the bitch to get an ultrasound done and a estimated due date.

Once pregnancy is confirmed via ultrasound I will require a $500 non-refundable deposit to reserve your puppy. This deposit counts towards the total amount of the puppy. It is very important for you to understand you will not know which puppy you will get until after the puppies are evaluated for conformation and temperament at 8 weeks old.  At this time, you will be contacted about selecting your puppy.  We will help in selecting the puppy that will work best for you and your family per the conversation that was had after the puppy application was returned.  Gender, color, and temperament will all be considered when recommending puppies to you but please understand we know the puppies best and if you have expressed to us a certain type of personality/character you are looking for we will suggest the puppy that will best fit that.  We do give preference to show and/or working homes and/or performance homes.

All of our pet puppies are sold with limited AKC registration and non-breeding contracts. It is suggested that if you are wanting a puppy that you reach out to be placed on the waiting list. We only have 1-2 litters per year so the waitlist can fill up quickly. Waiting for a puppy can be hard but when working hand and hand with a reputable breeder that is an advocate for their breed, it is well worth the wait for a well-bred puppy!

*I do not place puppies specifically based of eye color or coat color. I also do not guarantee eye color or coat color in my litters*

What's going on from Newborn - Pick up

Our puppies are treated like family from the day they're born until the day they leave to their new homes. They are born and raised in a safe and clean environment where they are handled daily. We strive to produce quality, happy, well rounded, confident puppies. In order to attain this we raise the puppies using Puppy Culture. Puppy Culture has been scientifically proven to greatly improve the outcome of puppies.  Puppy culture exposes puppies to early neurological stimulation, emotional resiliency exercises, safe early socialization, and more. This begins shortly after the puppies are born up until they leave.

During this time you will be updated with pictures and videos weekly. Things can get busy but I do my best to try and update more than once a week if at all possible. By week 4 is when their personalities start to come out and I can begin to get a feel of what kind of puppy they will be. Of course, this will develop from week 4 on and will update you along the journey.

The puppies are started on dewormer at 3 weeks of age and continue on a deworming schedule until they leave. They will have their age appropriate puppy series vaccinations along with a vaccination for Bordetella. Puppies will leave with a puppy package that includes 2/3 toys, a blanket with mom+littermates scent, transitioning food by Purina ProPlan, personalized collar, microchipped and all paperwork. Puppies will have a 3 year genetic health guarantee and are guaranteed for life for all available DNA tested mutations.

We do not produce puppies just to produce puppies. Our goal is to improve the quality of our lines. Therefore at 8 weeks old puppies will be evaluated for conformation and temperament. Puppies are evaluated in order to get a non bias opinion of the puppies development to see which one is best conforming to the breed standard so we can choose a puppy to place within our program that compliments our ideologies. In additional to evaluating the entire litter structurally we will also be evaluating their personalities/temperaments and this will help when placing puppies. Each puppy is an individual. If a puppy is not placed correctly this could result in a clash of personalities or needs where the puppy will not thrive, will be unsuccessful and ultimately can result in the return of a puppy. We want to make sure you are getting the perfect puppy for your situation so I hope you will understand why these evaluations are important.

Puppy Pick up

Once the puppies are 8 weeks old and after evaluations have been completed it is TIME TO PICK YOUR PUPPY UP! We will schedule a date a head of time to pick your puppy up. Puppy pick ups are done at our residence. At this time, if you haven't already met the parents, you are more than welcomed to. If you are unable to pick your puppy up in person due to distance we can schedule transportation via plane flight. This is an additional cost to you.

The Wrap up

We want the best possible outcome for our puppies. We want you to be excited to add a new member to the family and ready to take on the puppy adventures. A new puppy is a lot of responsibility and sometimes very stressful. Please make sure you are more than ready to commit yourself to the trials that come along in puppy-hood. We highly recommend doing all research on this breed you can so there are no surprises. Siberian Huskies can be a harder breed. They need mental stimulation through training and/or exercise. They especially do need to be walked/ran regularly or have a nice yard they can shed off energy, A bored Siberian can be destructive which not only is frustrating as an owner but it is also very dangerous for the dog.  We are always willing to take time to educate. We highly encourage you to seek out local puppy classes before getting your puppy and making sure you set aside time to take classes. Sometimes its not just the puppy that needs training, it is also you that will. We also recommend, even if you have a pet, taking your dog to sporting events hosted by AKC/UKC. It is a great way to run energy, bond with you pet and earn fun ribbons! Please reach out if you have any breed specific questions or if you have questions on how to get started in some fun activities with your new pup/dog!
